AlessiTab

This is AlessiTab, a new tablet from Italian Alessi sporting a 10.1" HD touchscreen and running Android 2.1 with graphics by Italian designer Stefano Giovannoni. This device aims at becoming a natural helper in the Italian kitchen, and I sure wouldn’t mind having one in mine.

“The idea was to develop a contemporary instrument such as the Tablet, but to use it in another way, turning it into the focal point of advanced household communications in the third millennium. We believe that this product, more than any other and perhaps uniquely, perfectly summarizes technology and our attachment to our homes.”
[..]
“AlessiTab” is particularly innovative in the kitchen: the cook of the family, as well as enthusiastic foodies, will find recipes for all tastes, which they can easily browse and consult by using the screen in its 30° degree position while they are at work.

Other technical specs include auto-rotation, 1GB RAM, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, DVB-T with antenna, integrated microphone and camera, HDMI output, USB port and a SD card reader.

The AlessiTab will be on sale in Italy from November, there’s no word on pricing yet though.

iPod-resembling Kitchen Timer

iPod-ish kitchen timer

Is it just me or does the Triple Timer kitchen timer resemble a certain MP3 player? Well, I can imagine two reasons to get this $20 timer:

1) You want people to think you’ve actually bought a second iPod just to keep track of your cooking times.
2) You’re the kind of guy who likes to give fake gifts to your nephew, just to watch him cry when he realizes that he’s been fooled. Again.

Anway, if you want one you better get it before Apple’s lawyers spot it. Even though the scroll-wheel is becoming somewhat obsolete these days they eat companies that produces stuff like this for breakfast.
