Acer S273HL is a new 27" monitor sporting a LED backlight to help it reduce power consumption â€“ compared to CFFL-lit displays it’s supposed use up to 68% less electricity. The native resolution is 1920×1080 and other than the good looks it sports DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) of 12,000,000:1, 2ms response time and two HDMI connectors. No word on pricing yet though.
Samsung introduced the eco-friendly Blue Earth phone at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona. It’s the first full touch-screen phone to be able to run on solar power and besides efficient energy usage and eco-friendly packaging it’s made of PCM, a recycled plastic material extracted from water bottles, helping to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions in the manufacturing process.
A built-in pedometer allows the user to keep track of how much CO2 emissions earth has been spent by walking instead of motor transport.
