Okay. There’s big speakers and there’s huge speakers, but I think Arcadian Audio’s Pnoe Horn deserves its own category (I had to publish this under “furniture” as well as “audio”, hah). After 10 years of development they’ve created a horn speaker designed to create “the smoothest, roundest path for the sound wave front, without any obstructions, so that there are no sources of standing waves and spurious reflections”. How about that now. It’s made out of shiny fibreglass (both in- and outside) with special damping materials and it uses the AER MD3B driver for “ultra detailed presentation and warm sound”.

There’s no word on pricing, but I think it’s safe to assume they’re crazy expensive.

Is it just me or does the Triple Timer kitchen timer resemble a certain MP3 player? Well, I can imagine two reasons to get this $20 timer:

1) You want people to think you’ve actually bought a second iPod just to keep track of your cooking times.
2) You’re the kind of guy who likes to give fake gifts to your nephew, just to watch him cry when he realizes that he’s been fooled. Again.

Anway, if you want one you better get it before Apple’s lawyers spot it. Even though the scroll-wheel is becoming somewhat obsolete these days they eat companies that produces stuff like this for breakfast.

The Robotic Quadruped is a creepy little thing. It can run around on the floor like a crab completely autonomous using integrated sensors to scan for (and react to) moving objects. It sports three selectable levels of awareness, aggression and activity and its panning and tilting head is gifted with LEDs so it can operate in low-light conditions.

Anyway, with a sound sensor and everything this thing can run around guarding your house against intruders during the night. Just imagine huge Police-stamped versions of these running around on the streets…

This weird device is called Yamaha TENORI-ON and I think Yamaha describes it best as a “16×16 LED button matrix performance instrument with a stunning visual display”. Basically it’s a touch screen allowing you to “draw” your music (with both MIDI and samples). It’s designed by Japanese media artist Toshio Iwai and will be available in the UK from September.

Just imagine the camp fires of the future where the always-present-guitar dude plays one of these instead.
