Space Invaders Alarm Clock

Space Invaders Alarm Clock

Here’s the Space Invaders Alarm Clock, available in shiny white, blue and black. I’m sorry to say that you can’t play the game on it (or even need to play it a bit to shut it down in the morning), but it still looks good.

Super Famicom Controller for Wii

Nintendo Wii Super Famicom Controller

Oh yeah, Nintendo has retrofitted a bunch of classic Super Famicom Controllers (SNES for some of us) to make them Wii Virtual Console compatible. These were meant to be exclusive for Club Nintendo Platinum members in Japan, but the people over at National Console Support Inc offers them on pre-order (starts shipping April 2008). Sweet.

Now, where’s the NES model?

Mixa: Cassette Tape USB Flash Drives

Make a Mixa is a pretty cool idea for anyone old enough to remember the good ol’ mix tape days. Select a blank cassette tape in white or black, upload the pictures you want to decorate it with (either from your harddrive or from web services like Flickr) and voilá - you’ve got yourself a custom and USB-enabled 1GB cassette tape ready to be filled with whatever you want (mp3’s, images, emo poetry…).

Nintendo / Mario Vinyl Action Figures

If the 8-bit polyester tie isn’t enough to show your co-workers where you heart is you ought to get a couple of these Nintendo Vinyl Figures for desk decoration. They stand approximately 5" tall and you get to pick between Classic Mario, Fire Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong and a vicious Goomba.

ThinkGeek: Nintendo Action Figures ($14.99 each)

(If you’re into the art of vinyl collectibles you really should check out The House of Liu figures, Andrew Bell’s Lotus Kanser figures, Frank Cho’s Monkey Boy and the Black Hole Stormtrooper Collectible though)

The Midnight Card w/ Hasselhoff

The Midnight Card (David Hasselhoff)

Ah, the Midnight Cards, a pick-up technique that even Dwight K. Schrute might approve. The front simply says “This face leaves at midnight, be on it…”. The back features David Hasselhoff in a tux, sitting in his hi-tech 1985 Pontiac Trans Am.

If these two powerful ingredients doesn’t help you score I don’t know what will. Really.

Rubik’s Revolution: Cube Gone Digital

Rubik’s Revolution: Digital Cube

Here’s Rubik’s Cube 2007 - now all digital. This time it’s called Rubik’s Revolution and even though these cubes contain six built-in games with sound effects instead of just the classic, silent one I’ve got a feeling these won’t be seen at the annual Rubik’s Cube Championships any time soon…

Oh well, some classics might just be better off left alone, like the re-release of the original Slinky from 1945. Really.

Novophone’s Really Retro Handset

Novophone Retro Handset

If you’re looking for a classic, retro handset that even your grandma will feel comfortable using you better check out the Novophone Retro Handset. Complete with a coiled wire and everything.

It uses a “standard” 2.5 mm headset jack, meaning it’s compatible with all LG, Blackberry and Motorola phones but not Nokia, Sony Ericsson or Samsung.

Update: A word of warning: I just noticed that the reviews on UncommonGoods.com aren’t completely positive about the sound quality. Anyway, it still looks good.

(…If you want to take the whole retro cell phone thing a step further you should check out the portable rotary cell phone.)

The 8-Bit Tie finally in stock

Thursday, October 4th, 2007
8-bit tie

The 8-bit Tie started out as one of ThinkGeek’s annual April jokes, but hordes of pixel-tie-craving customers spoke up and now it’s finally in stock, available for purchase. It’s a clip-on (of course) and made in a “silk-like microfiber fabric” (oh yeah, polyester!).

“You’ll be the envy of the office or, at least, you’ll get tons of attention. You’ll be just like Mario when he wore a tie to meetings when negotiating his contract with Nintendo.”

Miniature Table Football Game

Miniature Foosball Table

Regardless if you call this game table football, foosball or fussball it’s still just as fun. This Japanese website sells miniature ones (there’s a hockey model too) with folding legs for easy transportation.
