If you’re going to keep goldfish you ought to do it in a Fishscape Fishbowl, designed by Aruliden for Gaia and Gino. While holding 2.5 gallons of water the textured interior landscape looks good for both viewers and, presumably, the fish.
It’s a limited edition product though, so if you want one you better be there when it’s launched October 5th.
Belkin’s Chef Stand + Stylus is designed to make cooking while using your iPad / tablet a whole lot easier (or, less messy at least). The case-compatible stand sports a non-slip rubber base and the magnetic tip on the wand works with any touchscreen.
Here’s FRAMED*, a “platform for new art forms” conceptualized by Tokyo based interface designer Yugo Nakamura of tha ltd. Did I hear you ask “Well, isn’t it just a flat screen TV?”. No, it’s more than that. It’s a display acting as a frame for visual art, which you can then just either let animate on its own or interact with using, say, your iPhone. Since there’s a microphone, camera and stereo speakers (+ wireless audio transmitter) built into it as well I’ll just assume there’ll be some highly interactive things created for it, art reacting to its surroundings.
It’s 37.4 x 22 inches big and 1.3 inches deep, containing a 40" Samsung LED Full HD display. Underneath the hood you’ll find an Intel Core i5 based machine running Windows 7 supporting Adobe Flash, Processing, openFrameworks and Cinder. Add WiFi, Bluetooth and a USB connectivity to that and you’ve got something that might just be able to create something more interesting than a regular poster.
FRAMED* is not available for purchase just yet, but follow them on Facebook or Twitter to stay updated.
The retro-lookin’ Breville VTT296 2 Slice Radio Toaster might just cheer up any breakfast. The toaster part of this comes with nifty features like a reheat button as well as a defrost button which lengthens the toasting time needed for frozen bread, removable crumb tray and cord storage. The AM/FM radio allows 10 pre-set stations, and comes an illuminated graphic display, preset graphic equializer and a line-in jack if you’d like to hook up your mp3 player instead. Well, I know it’s been done before, but I really like the 1950s feel of it.
Harman Kardon BDS 800 is a new, slick 5.1 home theatre system featuring a 65 watt per channel digital amplifier (Dolby Digital, DTS) capable of playing Blu-ray, DVD/CD and FM-radio as well as media content through the USB port. Pick your weapon: grenade, knife or revolver. Here’s the Armed Notebooks, a series of black notebooks with a slightly aggressive appearance by Taiwanese design group Megawing. Each feature a key ring on the front and different lines and patterns on the inside.
This is the Equilibrium Bookcase by Malagana Design. Stunning!
“With its cantilevered modules stacked upon each other at a single angled point, Equilibrium is a unique furniture piece that immediately catches attention by creating a sense of amusement and surprise.”
It might look fragile but it can hold more than 120 lbs (54 kg) worth of weight and it’s available in three different colors as well as natural walnut veneer. No word on pricing though.
If you’re looking for a clever way to wall mount your iPad in the kitchen or bath room you should check out Wallee’s iPad Case and Wall Mount, just put your iPad in the protective, plastic hard case and you’ll be able to mount it on the wall (in both portrait and landscape mode) by a simple and quick 45° turn wherever you decide to put the wall plates.
The Wallee cases are available in black, clear, white and orange and you can order extra wall mounts with it for $8.00.
This is Edge, an audio player / wireless stereo speakers by German Formboten, designed in collaboration with graphics group Team Dauerfeuer. It sports both USB plug and an audio jack as well as support for audio over Bluetooth via AirPlay, and if wood/white isn’t your thing they’re available in a great variety of colors and patterns as well.
D-Link’s Boxee Box is finally up for pre-order for those of you living in the US and Canada, and man, I really love the design on this one. This little box is ready to bring you all your tv shows, downloaded movies and streamed DRM-free content right to your HDTV and with a really neat remote sporting a full qwerty keyboard on the backside.
The Boxee Box will have a slightly later launch for Europe and Australia, the release date is set to November 2010.
(If you haven’t tried Boxee yet you can always download it for free and use it on your current Windows, Mac or Linux computer – I’m using a Shuttle PC running Boxee on Ubuntu Linux as media player at home.)
