LaCie Golden Disk External Drive

LaCie has teamed up with the French designer Ora-ïto (Ito Morabito) once again and this time they’ve come up with a shiny-shiny, golden and external USB 2.0 drive with 500GB of storage looking somewhat like a semi-melted block of solid gold.

The Golden Disks will start shipping in October and are available for pre-order now.

HP Blackbird 002 Gaming PC

HP bought Voodoo PC to compete with Dell / Alienware and here’s the first product: Blackbird 002, a rig designed and built for serious gamers. Besides the serious-lookin’ aluminum exterior you get liquid cooling, internal and external LED-lights, open and overclocking-friendly BIOS and a bunch of different hardware options. Expect a price tag between 2,500 and 6,500 USD.

So, compared to Dell XPS 720 H2C, who’s the winner?

Cute Penguin USB Flash Drives

Bone Penguin USB Flash Drives

The Japanese Penguin USB Flash Drives has room for 1GB of storage and you reveal the USB connector by pulling the head backwards. Uber-cute, and probably the definitive opposite to IronKey’s full-metal, encrypting and self-destructing USB flash drive I wrote about the other day.

They’re available in blue, grey and black and are Mac, Linux and Windows (+ Vista Readyboost) friendly.

Stylish Laser Printers From Samsung

Samsung Laser Printer ML-1630 SCX-4500

Oh yeah, Samsung continues to prove that just about everything looks better with a glossy, piano black finish. The ML-1630 is now the world’s slimmest monochrome laser printer (only 11 cm thick) and the multifunctional SCX-4500 looks just as good, although larger. Both models feature a blue LED scan progress indicator and buttonless, soft-touch sensors.

Ironkey: The encrypting, self-destructing USB Flash drive

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007
Ironkey USB Flash Drive

The Ironkey USB Thumb Drive was originally built for the US military and is now available for all paranoid consumers out there. Besides being encased in waterproof metal it sports an encryption chip that both makes sure to keep the stored data uber-encrypted and (here’s the cool part) physically self-destructs if the user can’t enter the correct password after 10 tries.

Without the encryption chip the data is completely useless, meaning no worries about those private pictures popping up on Facebook if the thumb drive gets stolen.

Available in 1, 2 and 4 GB models.

ThinkGeek: Ironkey USB Thumb Drive ($78.99 - $148.99)

New Microsoft SideWinder Mouse

Microsoft is reviving the SideWinder series with a brand new 5-button mouse designed for serious gamers. Among the features we find software customization for each game you play, buttons to change the current DPI setting (400, 800 and 2000) along with a built-in LCD display to show which setting you’re using at the moment, a wide metal scroll wheel, a weight compartment so you can find the perfect weight (from 5 to 30 grams in 5 gram increments) and three sets of feet in different materials for that perfect friction.

Frag on.

New Apple keyboard vs older ones

If you’re wondering how Apple’s new and super-slim aluminum keyboard looks compared to all the other keyboards they’ve produced over the years you better check out Blake Patterson’s gallery. The one pictured above is the 1983 Apple Lisa keyboard.

Makes me wonder how our beloved peripherals will look in another 24 years.
