Novophone Retro Handset

If you’re looking for a classic, retro handset that even your grandma will feel comfortable using you better check out the Novophone Retro Handset. Complete with a coiled wire and everything.

It uses a “standard” 2.5 mm headset jack, meaning it’s compatible with all LG, Blackberry and Motorola phones but not Nokia, Sony Ericsson or Samsung.

Update: A word of warning: I just noticed that the reviews on UncommonGoods.com aren’t completely positive about the sound quality. Anyway, it still looks good.

Gizmodo: “Don’t buy the iPhone”

Anti iPhone

Gizmodo’s Brian Lam has written an article on why he doesn’t recommend buying the jesusphone iPhone anymore, and it’s really worth reading. And I ask the same question as Red Ferret, what would the public reaction to crippled and bricked iPhones have been if it was Microsoft who stood behind it instead of Apple?

“With this, I’m going to have to move our recommendation from “Wait” to “Don’t hold your breath.” I’m done with this handset until third-party apps come back. Argh, I didn’t want to have to write this, but this is what’s on my mind.”

Bang & Olufsen, Samsung Serenata Phone

Remember Bang & Olufsen’s unorthodox cell phone Serene? Well, now they’ve teamed up with Samsung and their music player / cell phone Serenata is finally official as its successor.

“…featuring two high-quality speaker units which, controlled by advanced digital signal processing, deliver precise reproduction of what’s being said at the other end of the line – or played from your list of favourite tracks. That’s in addition to ICEpower amplifiers which enable a surprisingly powerful sound to emanate from such a small space.”

Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth Earset 2

Bang & Olufsen iPhone Earset 2

Here’s Earset 2, Bang & Olufsen’s new Bluetooth headset. It’s designed to go along well with B&O’s own cell phone Serene but works (and looks) just as well with other phones (Mmm.. iPhone).

“The loudspeaker system is designed to high-fidelity standards. Specially designed air vents and a ‘bass port’ ensure true voice reproduction. The microphones are designed to filter out disturbances, such as wind or background noise.”

It weighs a mere 22 grams and comes with a protective carrying case that also doubles as a charger.
