Steel Tree with hanging LED pear lamps

Thursday, September 6th, 2007
Nick Foley’s Steel Pear Tree with LED Pear Lamps

This is Pear Light, a hollow steel tree acting as a lamp base with three hanging urethane pears. Each pear is connected with a magnet and contains 10 ultrabright LED lights and a charging unit, allowing you to pick the pears from the three and they’ll stay lit for over an hour. Design by Nick Foley.

Stylish Arcade Game Coffee Table

Surface Tension Arcade Coffee Table

Surface Tension’s hand-made Arcade Coffee Tables comes equipped with solid 2-player retro gaming components and 29 classic arcade games (Bubble Bobble, Operation Wolf, Rainbow Islands, Space Invaders etc) preinstalled. It runs MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) so you’re by no means bound to those 29 titles either, there’s tons of games available.

That being the main feature it also sports wireless networking, iTunes, Firefox and Windows Media Player, so as long as your coffee maker is within reaching distance you won’t need to leave that couch of yours for quite a while.

(Oh, and it’s insanely expensive)

Looking for an unusual ladder?

Cima: The unusual ladder

This here is the Cima Ladder and if you’ve been on the look-out for a weird, lightweight (less than a kilogram) and very odd ladder made in carbon-fibre composite it might just be a winner.

Let’s hear it from Cima themselves:

“Like climbing a tree, brings us closer to the basic nature of climbing up to reach the top, climbing as a metaphor of growth and self elevation in life.”

Errr. Yeah. Anyway, it’s available in both neon green and neon pink.

E-volve Glass Table

E_volve_table

According to Timothy Schreiber, the designer behind the E_Volve_Table, the design is heavily inspired by natural fluid patterns and naturally grown forms. The design was then optimized digitally using artificial intelligence to enhance the metal structure.

“Special attention was paid to the organic, bone-like connections at the branches, where the complete ensemble splits up into it’s subparts, which make the table demountable for transport convenience.”

Stylish indeed. No word on price or availability yet.

Corner Tree Bookshelf

This shelf is called The Corner Tree (designed by Abhinav Dapke), and I wouldn’t mind putting one in a corner at the office at all. By the looks of it it’s not in production yet though.
