EA Boogie: Kinda like Singstar for Wii

Monday, May 7th, 2007

EA Boogie Wii

IGN got to spend a little time with EA’s upcoming Nintendo Wii title Boogie - a party game focusing on both syncing your nunchuk and Wii remote to sequences of dance moves and singing using the USB-connected microphone shipped with the game. And yeah, you’ll score depending on how well you sing like in Karaoke Revolution and Singstar.

There’s no set release date yet but rumors say sometime near christmas.

Guy playing 2 mins of Super Mario Bros with eyes closed

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

The guy in the video above plays the first two minutes of Super Mario Bros with his eyes closed and his back turned. If this isn’t proof of humankind truly being a divine species I don’t know what is (OK, if he’d played the most annoying Super Mario mod ever he’d get a few extra points).

So what do you think, are we dealing with plain old-fashioned cheating here (mirror on the NES controller?) or is he just gifted with a pretty useless superpower?

Answers to a lot of GTA IV-questions

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

GTA IV

Game Informer got to try out Grand Theft Auto IV (see the trailer for it here) and has answered a truck load of questions sent in by the readers of GTA4.net. For example we learn that there’s no airplanes in the game, but there’s helicopters, Liberty City feels as big as New York City but it isn’t a 100% clone and uuh.. Niko (as in you, the player) can climb telephone poles in a very impressive way.

Update: OK, my bad. They didn’t get to play it - they got to see a live demo by Rockstar Games. They still have answers we crave though.

Web: Play hundreds of NES games

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

Thanks to the Virtual NES emulator written in Java there’s hundreds of original 8-bit NES titles available for you to play in your web browser (no semi-decent Javascript reproductions here). No installation required at all as long as you have Java installed.

I really can’t think of a better way to kill slow office hours.

Most annoying Super Mario mod ever

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

The video above shows some poor guy trying to play what must be the most sado-masochistic, cruel and frustrating Super Mario mod ever. The video is a bit long, but give it a minute or two and he actually gets somewhere - when he finally reaches the pipe and heads down to collect the hard-earned coins just cracked me up.

According to the Japanese website Famitsu Capcom and Nvidia just announced that Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will be available for PC gamers as well in June 2007.

Apparently it’ll feature improved visuals through DirectX 10, which might render it a Windows Vista exclusive (check out this DirectX 9 vs 10 comparison while you’re at it).

Manhunt 2

Rockstar Games has just updated their Manhunt 2 website and added a new trailer (watch it below) and disturbing goodies like patient files from the Dixmor Asylum for the Criminally Insane.

“An experiment at a secret research facility has gone catastrophically wrong. Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper are the only surviving subjects. The Pickman Project will stop at nothing to hunt them down and stop the truth from getting out. The door to your cell is open. One choice. One chance. They took your life. Time to take it back.”

Manhunt 2 will be released for Nintendo Wii, Playstation 2 and PSP this summer.
